Auction of exhibition standard models by Tim Dyke of MPH Models. A former accountant, Tim turned to model production after leaving the accountancy trade and deciding to turn his hobby into a business. Concentrating on Le Mans entrants between 1949 and 1965, all in 1:43 scale, MPH Models produced models of 63 cars in total, 58 Le Mans cars, 3 road cars and 1 each from the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio. Working initially with white metal kits Tim found it hard to produce models of the standard he was happy with and the subsequent growth of resin kits gave his models a much higher level of detail and he soon found that there was considerable demand for his significantly upgraded models and went on to produce them in greater numbers after forming an arrangement with CMA Mouldcast, although they were still very small numbers with the usual run being limited to 25 models of each vehicle. The seller of the collection, who has a background in motorsport, was initially introduced to the MPH Models by a racing driver friend of his and over approximately 25 years of collecting has amassed 60 of the 63 models that were produced making this one of, if not the, most complete collections in the world.
